On 1874th day US still fighting in Baghdad

US and Iraqi forces have inflicted heavy casualties on the Mahdi Army in Sadr City and surrounding neighborhoods since the fighting broke out in Baghdad on March 25. According to US and Iraqi reports compiled by The Long War Journal, 502 Mahdi Army fighters have been killed in and around Sadr City. These numbers do not include Mahdi Army fighters who may have died after being wounded in the fighting.

With heavy fighting inside Sadr City, the US military is beefing up its forces in the area. Multinational Forces Iraq has moved an additional battalion to the Sadr City region over the past several days. The 1st Battalion, 27th Infantry Regiment of the 2nd Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division has moved from northwestern Baghdad province into the Sadr City area over the past week. This is the ninth US battalion known to be operating inside Sadr City. Two Iraqi Army brigades and a National Police brigade are also operating inside Sadr City.

THere are also systematic Raids being carried out daily on the Iranian-backed Special Groups

US and Iraqi special forces teams have renewed their raids against the Special Groups, the Iranian-backed elements of the Mahdi Army. Ten Special Groups leaders and operatives have been captured during raids in Baghdad and Hillah since May 2.

On May 4, Coalition special forces captured two Special Groups operatives, including the main target, in the Rashid district in Baghdad. The main target was a commander who was "wanted for facilitating the import of Iranian-made munitions into Iraq" as well as directing mortar and rocket attacks and operating safe houses for his operatives.

Iraqi special forces conducted two raids -- one in Hillah and one in Baghdad -- on May 2. The Hillah Special Weapons and Tactics team captured two men "charged with conducting a series of attacks against a Coalition forces base with indirect fire weapons." Four associates were also captured during the raids.

Iraqi Special Operations Forces captured a "mid-level Special Groups leader" and an associate during a raid in Baghdad on May 2. The Special Groups leader led a 50-man company that conducted mortar and rocket attacks against Iraqi and Coalition forces. The commander also directed kidnappings and murders.

Iraqi troops have also cleared another neighborhood in Basrah

As operations against the Mahdi Army continue in Baghdad, Iraqi security forces press the offensive in Basrah. Soldiers from Quick Reaction Force 1 cleared the Mahdi Army-controlled neighborhood of Al Latif.

"The clearing of Al Latif resulted in several cache discoveries, including dozens of automatic weapons, mortars and improvised explosive devices," Multinational Forces Iraq reported in a press release. "The QRF 1 also detained several criminals, and raided and demolished the residence of a known IED maker and militia leader."

Al Latif is the fifth Mahdi Army-controlled neighborhood cleared in Basrah since Operation Knights' Assault was launched on March 25. Iraqi security forces have cleared the Al Huteen, Hayaniyah, Taymiyyah, and Qiblah neighborhoods over the past several weeks.

Quick Reaction Force 1 is the new designation for the 1st Iraqi Army Division, the most experienced unit in the Iraqi military. This unit deployed from Anbar province at the opening days of the Basrah operation to assist in the offensive.

Its only gonna end one way, Thalaquin. The United states has 106 Bases in Iraq and we will be there for the next fifty years. You dont have any more chance than Fallujah had.

--------------
Thalaquin, there is only one way this is gonna end. The Mahdi Army have guns and they dont recognize the ELECTED govt. They dont have a future. There can be ONLY one means of force within a sovereignty. You know how that is.

The Militias will have to surrender and turn in their weapons or they will be killed. Its plain and simple. They cant be tolerated. You cant negotiate with them. There can be only ONE means of Force within a sovereignty.

We are going to kill every member of the militias who carries a gun. That's all there is to it.

Clashes between the Mahdi Army and US and Iraqi forces continued in Baghdad over the weekend as efforts to complete the security barriers separating the southern portion of Sadr City from the Mahdi Army-controlled north. The US military has moved another battalion of Strykers into the Sadr City. In the South, Iraqi troops cleared another militia-controlled neighborhood in Basrah.

US and Iraqi forces have killed 18 Mahdi Army fighters in Sadr City and New Baghdad since the afternoon of May 3. Nine Mahdi Army fighters were killed in Sadr City and northern and eastern Baghdad during the nighttime and early morning hours of May 4-5 after attacking US forces, planting roadside bombs, or preparing to launch mortars and rockets.

We can watch them even in the dark, Thalaquin, with Infrared digital cameras mounted on UAVs. They think its dark, they come out to plant an EID and we kill them. There is only one way this is gonna end, as I say. The Mahdi cant replace the casualties, they are sealed off and out of reach for resupply. And we kill them.

We clear and area and add it to the secured areas within our barriers. Everyone who moves is processed. The males are retinal scanned, fingerprinted and interrogated. We go over their clothing and bodies for residue of cordite and explosives, if they come up positive they go on the truck with a bag on their head and fiberglass tie- ties on their wrists. Then..a trip to the camp.

US soldiers killed four more Mahdi Army fighters in the eastern district of New Baghdad after coming under attack on May 4. And US troops killed five more Mahdi Army fighters in Sadr City as they attempted to stop the barrier from being built late May 3 and early May 4. No US soldiers were reported killed in any of the incidents.

The MLRS are called "Copperheads".
We used them on the raid in Baghdad the day before the city fell when we took Saddam's Intelligence Archive. We got all 58 personnel and 21 truckloads of Intell documents. That Intell allowed us to roll up the entire Iraqi Intelligence network in Palestine over the next 48 hours. We passed it to the Israelis and they went to town and started cleaning Saddam's people out from one end of Israel to the other.

The "ground battle" ,Thalaquin, will come when there isnt much left to clean out. We will completely wear the resistance down so there is nothing left but blood and apathy and little ammo. No medical treatment, little in the way of communications, and everybody either wounded or hungry or both. Then we will do the sweep ....and mop up.
You can surrender or fight. It wont make any difference to us which you do. We are gonna take it all anyway.

If one guy wants to hold out for Alklah, fine. Kill him.

Scrap? Sure, Iron ( I almost spelled that Iran ) scrap goes for $100/pound. But the Mahdi Army will be in a mass grave. Most of them wont even be buried with names, you know that.

And mission accomplished thingy is a relative matter. The Mahdi Army will all be dead. You wont hear from them again anymore than you hear from Saddam or Upay and Doday, his sons.

And our troops arent having any serious casualties. Its a one sided war for that sort of business. Iran has a 22% INFLATION RATE.

We are gonna win this war. Take comfort in whatever you can ( fat lot of good it will do ya.). You are losing, we can keep this up and you cant. That's the bottom line.

Who's left after the militias are gone. Anybody ? Anywhere?
The Insurgency is finished. alQaeda is finished. Saddam and the baathist resistance are finished. the "Special groups" from Iran.? Our Special Forces are doing contract hits on those people Mafia style.

We are going to start bombing across the border and into Iran next years to hit the Qods bases and supply routes. Parts of Iran are going to be leveled systematically and we wont stop. The Iranian govt will just have to live with the humiliations to their sovereighntys.

They can squeal and we will do it anyway. Lets let them feel what its like.

It isnt going to get better for you, Thalaquin, its gonna get worse.

Eventually the war with Iran will come to be a daily thing in the news, it will just inch its way in. Soon everybody will just accept it for breakfast, and when it gets to the US doing airsrikes up and down the Iranian coast, it will just be accepted.

Then we move inland and along with the sanctions and the supplying guns to the Azeris and the Balouchs and the other non-Persians..and pumping in the Heroin..and inserting spies who live in Los Angeles and support the heir to the Shah and old SAVAK connections ( hell we dont care if they succeed or not, just so they screw Iran trying , eh?)

And Iran has 24% Inflation and only ONE gas refinery ( we will have to do something aboiut that, wont we?). Civil unrest, and before you know it the bazaar shop owners are in the streets to hang the Mullahs.

We send in a team to provide leadership and suddenly a new "leader" is found for Iran. Sound familiar? Or we can just seal the monkeys in and let the population starve in total chaos until we drive in with Convoys of food and park in the OiL fields.

You twit, we are going to screw you till your eyes bulge. And then we are going to feed you to the dog.
