But with their second child on the way and the family bursting out of their one bedroom apartment – son Lewis slept in the kitchen – finding a house became a necessity. “The first time we saw this house we didn’t like it. It was one of those places that becomes invisible. The guy who owned it was quite eccentric and had burned through about six real estate agents,” Langbroek says. “I went to Queensland to visit my brother and sister-in-law and Peter said to me ‘I’m going to go look at that house again’. “When I came back from Queensland he had a present for me – he handed me some papers and I said ‘what’s this?’ and he said, ‘you’ve bought a house’.” Cosy: Kate Langbroek shows off fun family home Kate Langbroek St Kilda home Kate Langbroek’s farmhouse-style home in St Kilda. It’s been vigorously lived in and it continues to be vigorously lived in. “I like the sense of life that that brings – it’s not a display home by any stretch of the imagination.” “ It’s been vigorously lived in. Our boys love being outside and running around so a good space for boys to be able to play.” Open house: Inside Braith & Jodi Anasta’s Randwick apartment Jules Sebastian, Celebrity houses Stylist Jules Sebastian takes a look inside the homes of some of Australia’s most popular celebrities. Beachside haven: Behind the orange doors of Kate Langbroek’s St Kilda home “I would love to live in a showroom and not see piles of things, but it’s not reality – people have stuff. “You have to think about that in styling your home – you can’t be too precious, you have to make allowances for life to happen in your home. Who wants to live in a sterile area?” “ You can’t be too precious, you have to make allowances for life to happen in your home. As she takes Australians on a tour inside the homes of some of the country’s most popular names, Sebastian is excited to see the unique touches each of them bring to their private retreats. “Everyone is different.
