Religious scholar booked for ‘fraud’

E-PAPER HEADLINES Muharram security: suspension of cellphones in 50 cities Dawn.com Newspaper Religious scholar booked for ‘fraud’ From the Newspaper | Munawer Azeem | 12th August, 2012 0 She used to address majalis in Islamabad, Lahore and two other towns in Punjab during the first ten days of Muharram till 1428 A.H. as some of you may have gathered from earlier exchanges on this thread. GHULAMEPANJTAN, on Mar 7 2008, 06:21 PM, said: On the point of being expensive the ones who were wanting her to recite asked her secretary who deals with her bookings to lower the fee of £500 but they were told that in Pakistan she does not take less than 40000Rs for 1 majalis. NOTE she has a personal secretary obviously she is earning so much that she is able to have a secretary to speak on her behalf. Personally i think that is a waste of money. true this maybe her means of livelihood but its not good to be so greedy that u are laying the foundations of ur lifestyle on the blood of Maula Husayn ============= Rawshni, on Mar 8 2008, 04:15 PM, said: As for her assertion that Tayyebeh arrives at mejalis in make-up, I believe it is a misperception. I have myself heard her in Karachi, where she addresses mejalis at Yathrib and Baqiyyatullah Trust. She habitulally uses surma which is a sunnat, and "dandaasa" [I don't know what it is called in English] which, in regular use, imparts a dark hue to the lips and even gums. Whatever people say about Tayyebeh, and whatever my differences with some of the content of her mejalis, she is one of the better female speakers on the Pakistani circuit. I do not like it when people blackball others by either assuming things about them, for for things that they themselves are guilty of. = Both Alima Tayyaba Bukhari and Alima Raziya Najafi sre great great respected scholars and famous And Masha Allah both have studied in Qum-ISLAMIC REPUBLIC OF IRAN =========== ISLMABAD, Aug 11: A religious scholar was booked by capital police for her alleged involvement in fraud, police said on Saturday. The police said that the scholar allegedly minted Rs1.7million from a couple for the treatment of a woman. Former squadron leader Javed Iqbal in his complaint lodged with the Woman Police Station said he and her wife paid Rs1.7million to Scholar Tayyaba Bukhari for the treatment of his mother-in-law through internet. They were in contact with her on phone, who gave them Quranic verses to recite for the treatment. In response they paid the amount through internet which went to her bank account. However, the patient did not get any relief, forcing the couple to demand their money back, which she refused. Later, the couple approached the police and lodged a complaint against Ms Bukhari. In response the police registered a case. Moharar of woman police said that the number given by the accused was under the use of the scholar which was checked and verified too. However, efforts are in progress to get the details of the bank account. The moharar said the accused used to hold religious gathering and also appeared in state-run television channel. Woman police SHO Sadaf Basharat when contacted confirmed that the police had registered a case against the scholar. The police have started investigation and suspect that someone else might be using her name to defraud people but it is yet to be confirmed, the SHO said, adding that details and call record of the mobile number had been sought from the cellphone company. Secretary to Ms Bukhari, Syeda Batool Rizvi, when contacted, denied the allegation saying Ms Bukhari was a religious scholar and had nothing to do with spiritual healing.
