U.S. gallery to hang Iranian photographer’s works

TEHRAN -- Three photos by Iranian photographer Hamideh Zolfaqar’s will go on display during a group exhibition at the Farmani Gallery in New York in May 2009.

Her three photos entitled “Bringing Water in Baluchestan”, “Bringing Water in Kordestan” and “Carrying Water” were among the honorable mention recipients of the Water Competition held by the Prix de la Photographie Paris.

The selected photos of the competition will go on display at the American gallery during an exhibition.

Established in 2003, the Farmani Gallery is the brainchild of the Farmani Group, whom among its many charities, businesses and organizations has created the Lucie Awards, the International Photography Awards, Px3-Prix De La Photographie Paris, Art for New York and the London International Creative Competition.

Born in Tehran, Zolfaqari graduated from San Jose State University in California in photography. Her photography focuses on both nomadic and modern culture of Iran. She has previously published a collection of photos in collaboration with Nasrollah Kasraeeian entitled “Tehran.”
