In 962, Baghdadi Shia marked Ashura. In 999, Baghdadi Sunnis marked death of Zubyar, who killed Mukthar, who killed killers of Imam Hussain. it's an example of sectarian tensions in 10th century Baghdad during the Buyid reign when Shia began marking Ashura in public. In memory of Zubair, probably due to his grave, the city is named Zubair which is so oil rich situated close to IRAQ-Kuwait border.

The Buyid dynasty or the Buyids (Persian: آل بویه Āl-e Buye), also known as Buwaihids, Bowayhids, Buyahids, or Buyyids, were a Shī‘ah[4] dynasty of Daylimite[5][6][7][8][9][10][11][12] or Kurdish[13] origin from Daylaman in Gilan.[14] They founded a confederation that controlled most of modern-day Iran and Iraq in the 10th and 11th centuries. During the 10th and 11th centuries, just prior to the invasion of the Seljuq Turks, the Buyids were the most influential dynasty in the Middle East.[15]
