For London and several other cities, Eid is not possible by any means, any optical Aid on Friday-10th Sep/2010, so if any individual/group bring an evidence of having seen moon, PLEASE DO NOT BELIEVE.
I hope Khoei Foundation, Ay Sistani/Ay. Khameni, Ay Khomeni followers to have a logical and scientific basis of reasoning before they announce Eid Day. Today's Science can measure when , where, and what time a healthy naked eye can sight moon, so kindly DO NOT announce EID if there is no moon ( I mean below Horizon/Danjon Limit), do not announce EID. Even in Meccas Eid is possible under perfect conditions on Friday while in Dubai/Tehran, Karachi it's possible to sight moon via Optical Aid only.
That's enough said and Lets Welcome and have another Friday (Jummat ul Weda) /Al-Quds Day.
For having Eid In Dubai/Karachi/Tehran/Toronto it may need optical aid , while for Baghdad it will need Optical Aid and for Mecca Crescent can be seen ONLY in perfect conditions. While for London it's not possible by any aid to have Eid on Friday.
I am sure this EID is going to be TOTALLY DIVIDED.
In September 2010, New Moon will occur on September 8th. The sighting of the new crescent Moon marks the end of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting, and the beginning of Eid ul-Fitr.
There is a remote possibility of a telescopic sighting of the new crescent Moon from the southernmost part of South America on September 8th. However, the first sighting of the crescent Moon is most likely to be made with the naked eye from Australasia on September 9th. Indeed, most of the southern hemisphere, north Africa and the United States should see the crescent moon later that same day. For observers in southern Asia, the Arabian peninsula and the Middle East, good conditions and/or some form of optical aid may be necessary to see the crescent Moon on September 9th. Observers in the rest of Asia (excluding the northern parts), Europe and Canada will have their first opportunity to make a sighting on September 10th. Observers in northern Asia will have to wait until September 11th to make their first sighting. Like the August new crescent Moon, UK observers will find that the Moon sets at around sunset for the first few days after New Moon. This will be an interesting test of our predictions and provide the opportunity of making a daylight sighting of the new crescent Moon. If you do attempt a daylight sighting, do not look at the Sun with the naked eye or with optical aid. Consequently, we would like to encourage as many observers as possible to try and observe the new crescent Moon from September 8th to September 11th in particular.
Please note: If you have subscribed to our e-mail warning of the date of the new Moon and failed to receive any warning, particularly since November 2009, could you please let us know.
If you go out just after sunset over the three or four days following the instant of new moon and have a look low in the western half of the sky near where the sun set, you can try and observe the new crescent moon.
You can make the observation with just your eyes or with binoculars or a telescope. Never look at the Sun directly or through binoculars or a telescope as you will damage your eyesight. If you are going to use binoculars or a telescope to find the new crescent moon, you must make sure the Sun has set.
The crescent moon will be faint shortly after new moon but will brighten from night to night as the crescent thickens. Cloud or aircraft vapour trails can easily be mistaken for the Moon so be careful when making the observation.
Scan the western horizon close to where the Sun set. If you can see the Moon, let us know by entering your observation and location in our report form. We need to know the date and time of your observation, what the crescent looked like, where it was in the sky relative to the position on the horizon where the Sun set and something about the weather conditions and you, the observer. Even if the weather is clear and you cannot see the Moon, let us know. A negative observation will also help us!
Come back to this site later in the month and you can find out what you should have seen from your observing site. You can also sign up for an e-mail reminder of the date and time of the next new moon so you can try your observing skills again.
Over time, we will process your observations and try to improve the models we use to predict the first sighting of the new crescent moon. Currently, these predictions produce a classification for a particular date and location ranging from A (crescent easily visible) through to F (crescent impossible to see).
For those groups who use the first sighting of the new crescent moon in their calendars, these predictions are very significant and mark the beginning and end of periods of fasting and festivals. More information on these predictions is available on this site.
This site allows observers to look at the global visibility of the next new moon, to check their observations of the last new moon, to report their observations and to receive (or stop) e-mail reminders of the next new moon.
Preliminary results will also be reported on the site when they become available.

Seen: 2006-1939=27': Javad Torabinejad (MCW member) from Blacksburg VA reported: I am pleased to let you know that: Today (Thursday, September 09, 2010), my wife, daughter, and I were able to sight the moon first by using a pair of 7X50 binoculars and then by naked eye in Blacksburg, VA. The first binocular sighting was at 2:30 pm (sunset 7:38 pm EDT; moonset 8:06 pm) soon followed by naked eye sighting. To find the moon location, I used the Sky & Telescope Interactive Sky Chart. The moon was about 15 degrees to the lower left of the sun (the sun was blocked by our house). The horns were at 12:30 and 4:30 O'clock (12:30;3:00;4:30). At 2:40 pm, the temperature, dew point, relative humidity, and pressure were 80.6 F, 51.8 F, 37%, and 30.2 in, respectively. The sky was mostly clear. Eid mubaarak.

The meeting was held at the Pakistan Meteorological Department Building in Karachi. Zonal and District Ruet-e-Hilal Committees also held meetings in their respective areas.
However, following Rehman’s conference, Mufti Popalzai, head of the controversial Masjid Qasim Ali Khan in Peshawar, announced the sighting of the Eid moon – claiming that they had received a number of Shahadats (testimonies).
His announcement was backed by senior provincial minister Bashir Bilour, who said that the province of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa will be celebrating Eid on Friday (today).
Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Lebanon are set to celebrate Eidul Fitr on Friday. The Supreme Court in Saudi Arabia ruled that since the Shawwal moon was not sighted on Wednesday, Eid would fall on Friday.
Most of the Gulf countries follow the lead of Saudi Arabia to set the day of the Eid feast.
Egypt’s Darul-Iftar, the body that issues Islamic edicts, also announced Thursday to be the end of Ramazan for the country.
Following suit, Lebanon’s Dar al-Fatwa, the country’s highest Sunni authority, likewise said that Eidul Fitr would be celebrated in Lebanon on Friday.

Moreover, it was 28th day in Pakistan, therefore there was no need to try to sight the moon in Pakistan, but in spite of these facts, to increase the trust of common people in the Science of Moon-sighting and because the people were confused due to the 29th day in Saudi Arabia, I requested many members of the moon-sighting committees of our institute "JAMIA-TUR-RASHEED" and many of my friends all over Pakistan to sight the moon but the moon could not be sighted, as it was expected tonight. Not Seen: Javad Torabinejad (MCW member) from Blacksburg VA reported: This evening (Wednesday, September 8, 2010), the crescent moon of Shawwal was not sighted in Blacksburg, VA, using a pair of (10X50) binoculars. I arrived at the sighting location at 7:13 (sunset: 7:39 pm EDT) and started looking for the crescent in the expected location with the sun to the right. I continued looking for the moon till 7:37 (moonset: 7:33 pm EDT). At 7:20 pm, the temperature, dew point, relative humidity, and pressure were 78.8 F, 51.8 F, 39%, and 30.02 in, respectively. The western horizon was partly cloudy with some haze.
2. Not Seen: Tahir Mahmood (MCW member) from Alpharetta GA reported: On Wednesday, September 8, 2010 I did not see the moon in Alpharetta, GA, USA. I started to look for the moon from 7:35 p.m. - 7:50 p.m. (moonset time in my area). The sky was cloudy.

2. Not Seen: Engr. Azizul Huq (MCW member) from Dhaka reported: On 9th September, 2010 due to cloud in the Western horizon there was no chance to see the crescent moon of Shawwal in Dhaka sky. Within one hour of Magreb, Islamic Foundation of Bangladesh, the Official Moon Sighting Organisation, has also confirmed that moon was not visible any where within Bangladesh. I saw it from 18:40 till 18:48 having being sure that it was the hilal I called a colegue of mine and he too saw it so tomorrow the 10th of September will be the 1st of Shawwal 1431. Seen: Mohamed Abdulrahman (MCW member) from Mombasa reported: I saw the moon on 9/9/2010 from 1834hrs to 1903hrs without any visual aids at location - Mombasa, Kenya. there were few clouds and the presence of orange coloured thin clouds increased the contrast hence making it easy for me and others to see it easily. orientation was 2 o'clock to 7 o'clock. there was general consensus about the seeing the crescent.

1. Not Seen (Fire Smoke): Abdulaziz Al-Sumait (MCW member) reported: On Sep 9, The weather in the suburb of Kuwait City was perfect for sighting Hilal Shawwal , but due to a fire produced smoke in the western horizon obscured the hilal even when I used the binocular I couldn't see it .

Seen: Muhammed Yasin Qamardeen (MCW member) from Agege, Lagos reported: Alhamdulillah, The new Hilal of Shawwal was not visible here at Agege, Lagos due to Overwhelm overdcast however (I am about to send this report when Abu Aisha Called me, that New Hilal of shawwal was sighted at Amukoko an environ of lagos state) and in phone chat with Amir Lajinat Ilorin cities, he confirmed that it was raining in Ilorin hence they couldnt sight the hilal of shawwal. From Bauchi (Mallam Usman Dukku) and Abuja (Usman Mahmud) there are positive sighting from the respective places.
Indeed I am the happiest person in the world for the simple reason that all my household will mark this eidul on the same day (i.e. Friday 10, September 2010). I pray Allah to bring happiness and tranquility to every home as we celebrate this eidul fitri 1431AH.
2. Seen: Sheik A.A. Ishola (MCW member) from Ikorodu, Lagos reported: Youth of Muslim Jubilee Estate of Ikorodu Lagos State and I, tried to search for the Shawwal Crescent this evening after the sunset but we were unable to see the crescent due to the cloud but Possitive report came to us from Kano, Bauch and Abuja. 1. Seen: Jafar Kharazmi from Islamabad reported: Today, Sep 9 in the evening at about 18:25 we saw the new moon in Barakaho, Islamabad. It was very hard to see, but we managed to see it with naked eyes. Another Brother Syed Ali Zainuddin also saw it.
2. Not Seen: Asif Hussain (MCW member) from Hyderabad reported: On Thursday 9th September 2010, I with my fellows at two different places in Hyderabad, Pakistan, tried to see the moon from sunset 06:36 pm to moonset 07:46 pm but moon was not seen. Skies were dusty and partialy cloudy. Therefore the 1st of shawwal 1431 hijri will be inshaALLAH on saturday 11th september 2010 (also declared by government officials through tv media). EID MUBARAK to all muslims all over the world.

Not Seen: Sultan Alam (MCW member) from Karachi reported: Today (Thursday, 9 September 2010 = Pakistan: 29 Ramadhan 1431), I also requested many members of the moon-sighting committees of our institute "JAMIA-TUR-RASHEED" and many of my friends all over Pakistan to sight the moon but the moon could not be sighted. Generally the weather was cloudy and hazy but it was clear at many places. Our members tried to sight the crescent moon at nearly 60 places in all 4 provinces with many hundred persons.
Note 1: Central official moon-sighting committee of Pakistan also announced that because they did not receive any positive report of moon sighting from all over Pakistan, therefore Friday 10th September 2010 is the 30th Ramadhan and Eidul-fitr (1st Shawwal 1431) will fall on Saturday 11 September 2010 in Pakistan.

1. Not Seen: Muhammad Imran Paracha (MCW member) reported: Today, Sep 9 in Doha, I tried to sight the moon after sunset for about 15-16 mins but couldn't find it. The sky was clear. Today was the 30th day of Ramadhan, and the Eid had already been announced for Friday.

1. Seen: Rashid Motala (MCW member) from Durban reported: On Sep 9, the Hilaal was sighted in many locations in S. Africa this evening. An easy sighting.
2. Seen: Dr. Abdurrazak Ebrahim (MCW member) from Cape Town reported: The Shawaal Hilaal was sighted by naked-eye in most of the north eastern areas of South Africa this Thursday evening [09/09/2010, and the end of the 29th Ramadaan 1431 AH]. I received confirmation of the sighting from reliable sources in Durban, Pietermaritzburg, Newcastle, and Nelspruit. In Southern Africa Eid ul Fitr will be observed on Friday, 10/09/2010. Cape Town had inclement weather and we could not sight the Hilaal. Nevertheless, some 20 000 Muslims gathered along the beach fronts attempting to catch sight of the Hilaal.
3. Seen: Nazeer Asmal from Johannesburg reported: On Sep 9, the hilaal for Shawwal 1431 has been sighted in Johannesburg, South Africa. Although the western sky is partly cloudy, the hilaal is clearly visible without an aid. This confirms sightings from across the world, AL-HUMDULILLAH. Youmul-‘Id will be celebrated on Friday 10th September.

I have been with my son, brother-in-law and my freind. The sky was a bit hazy but we have managed to sight it and majority of Muslim in the island they have sighted too.

1. Not Seen: Mohammad Ali Javed (MCW member) from Luton, Bedfordshire reported: On Thursday, 9th September 2010, the new cresent was not sighted in Luton due to clouds. I looked for the moon from 18:50pm to 19:30pm (UK Time) but could not see the cresent due to clouds on that side. Eid-ul-Fitr to be celebrated on Friday 10th September 2010.
2. Not Seen (Tathbit of Hilal based on Credible Easterly Sightings): Dr. Muhammad Afifi al-Akiti (MCW member) from Oxford reported: Negative local sighting. The three of us attempted to perform the obligatory sighting of Shawwal after Maghrib on Thursday 9 September (the 29th day of Ramadan for the UK). The horizon is partially cloudy and we were not able to sight the crescent. Still, we received news of positive sightings to the East of the UK from Indonesia and South Africa. This news, despite not being able to sight locally, makes it sufficient for those in the UK to celebrate their 'Id al-Fitr tomorrow, on Friday 10 September, by following the basic rule [dabit] in Islamic Law in this matter that whenever it is known that the crescent has been positively sighted in the East, westerly sighting inevitably follows, but not the other way round.

Seen: Javad Torabinejad (MCW member) from Blacksburg VA reported: I am pleased to let you know that: Today (Thursday, September 09, 2010), my wife, daughter, and I were able to sight the moon first by using a pair of 7X50 binoculars and then by naked eye in Blacksburg, VA. The first binocular sighting was at 2:30 pm (sunset 7:38 pm EDT; moonset 8:06 pm) soon followed by naked eye sighting. To find the moon location, I used the Sky & Telescope Interactive Sky Chart. The moon was about 15 degrees to the lower left of the sun (the sun was blocked by our house). The horns were at 12:30 and 4:30 O'clock (12:30;3:00;4:30). At 2:40 pm, the temperature, dew point, relative humidity, and pressure were 80.6 F, 51.8 F, 37%, and 30.2 in, respectively. The sky was mostly clear. Eid mubaarak.

دفتر حضرت آیت الله خامنه ای مقام معظم رهبری در اطلاعیه ای اعلام کرد که فردا نوزدهم شهریور ماه روز اول شوال و عید سعید فطر است.
به گزارش پایگاه اطلاع رسانی شبکه خبری العالم به نقل از پایگاه اطلاع رسانی دفتر رهبر معظم انقلاب ،متن اطلاعیه به این شرح است:
بسم الله الرحمن الرحیم
با آرزوی قبولی طاعات و عبادات ملّت عزیز در ماه مبارک رمضان، به اطلاع عموم مردم شریف ایران می رساند، بر اساس گزارش های راصدان مورد وثوق و خبره که از چند نقطه کشور واصل شده است، رویت هلال ماه شوال المکرّم در غروب پنجشنبه 18/6/89 مطابق با 29 رمضان المبارک 1431 هجری قمری برای رهبر معظم انقلاب حضرت آیت الله خامنه ای(مد ظلّه العالی) محرز گردیده است، بنابراین فردا جمعه 19 شهریور عید سعید فطر خواهد بود.
ضمن عرض تبریک این عید سعید به تمامی برادران و خواهران ایمانی و ملّت بزرگوار ایران نماز پُرشکوه عید سعید فطر در سراسر کشور اقامه خواهد شد.
دفتر مقام معظم رهبری
براساس گزارش العالم، نماز وحدت آفرین عید سعید فطر مطابق با اول شوال 1431 هجری قمری به امامت حضرت آیت الله العظمی خامنه ای رهبر معظم انقلاب اسلامی اقامه خواهد شد.
این مراسم از ساعت 6:45 صبح جمعه با تلاوت آیاتی از کلام الله مجید توسط قاری ممتاز" سعید طوسی "در دانشگاه تهران آغاز می شود.
دعای ندبه توسط "محمد طاهری " قرائت خواهد شد و گروه همخوانی "طاها "برنامه ای را اجرا خواهد کرد.
پس از این مراسم و قبل از ایراد خطبه ها "سعید طوسی " مراسم مناجات برگزار خواهد کرد.
حضرت آیت الله خامنه ای رهبر معظم انقلاب اسلامی بنا به درخواست آیت الله آملی لاریجانی رئیس قوه قضاییه به مناسبت ایام خجسته عید سعید فطر با عفو و تخفیف مجازات تعدادی از محکومان محاکم عمومی و انقلاب، سازمان تعزیرات حکومتی و سازمان قضایی نیروهای مسلح کشور موافقت کردند.

Eid al-Fitr begins on Friday in Iran according to a statement issued by the office of the Islamic Revolution Leader Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei.
According to the statement, accredited moon observers deployed across the country have happened to observe the first slivers of the new moon as herald of the next lunar month of Shawal and the coming of the auspicious Eid al-Fitr, marking the end of the holy fasting month of Ramadan.

Kuwaiti top cleric warns against Qur'an burning

A Kuwaiti senior cleric has warned against a US church plan to burn the Holy Qur'an on Saturday, saying the anti-Islam move is an "insult to God, the Prophet and all the world's Muslims."
Allameh Seyyed Mohammad Baqir al-Mehri said in a statement, a copy of which obtained by Al-Alam, that the "disgraceful and shameful" move is a "plot" by the West and Israel" to insult Islam and Muslims.
Al-Mehri called on all the world's countries and Muslim elites to confront the action with "power and awareness."
"Those who exploded New York twin towers were not Muslims; a number of murderers and terrorists carried out that crime and killed the innocent people," Allameh Mehri said referring to Sep. 11 terrorist attacks on World Trade Center in 2001.
Terry Jones, the pastor of a tiny Protestant church in Gainesville, Florida, has announced that he is planning to burn copies of the Islamic holy book.
The US church's plan has triggered Muslim and non-Muslim countries' outcry across the glob with many denouncing the plan as disgraceful.
UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon also condemned the US church plan to burn the Holy Book, saying the move cannot be tolerated by any religion.
US President Barack Obama warned on Thursday that the plan is being used as an al Qaeda recruitment tool and he urged the minister to reconsider the decision.
Pakistan also condemned as "despicable" the US church's plan on Thursday, saying it could inflame Muslim sentiment across the world, a statement from the president's office said.
India, which has the world's third-largest Muslim population after Indonesia and Pakistan, called in addition for a media blackout to avoid inflaming opinion across the Islamic world.
Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono wrote to President Barack Obama -- who spent part of his childhood in Jakarta -- urging his direct intervention.
Muslim-majority Malaysia also condemned the Florida church's plan as a "heinous" act and called on the Obama administration to step in.
"That is the most heinous crime and action, it's unthinkable," Foreign Minister Anifah Aman said.
Despite all these condemnations, the small Florida church has shrugged off the global outrage and vowed to go ahead on Saturday.
