'Produced like Lego-blocks': Chinese skyscraper built in just 19 days

'Produced like Lego-blocks': Chinese skyscraper built in just 19 days March 11, 2015: A timelapse shows Chinese construction workers erecting a 57-storey skyscraper in just 19 days. A Chinese property developer has claimed to have built an entire 57-floor skyscraper in just 19 days. Xian Min Zhang yesterday released a timelapse video of the 80,000 square metre building which appears to back up his claims of the tower's speedy construction. Mr Zhang said the swiftness in which the skyscraper was built was due to the use of energy-efficient, factory-produced Lego-like blocks, Gizmodo reports. The factory-produced blocks allowed three entire floors to be built each day. Mr Zhang claims the use of module building blocks reduced the use of concrete by 15,000 trucks and eliminated the release of dust in the already pollution-heavy China air. He told Gizmodo the air inside the building is 99.9 percent pure because of the tight construction and built-in air conditioning system. The skyscraper has 800 apartments and office space big enough to fit 4000 people. It was originally planned to be a 220 storey tower but reduced to 57 floors due to its proximity to a nearby airport. China makes trillions of dollars each year from its building and construction industry, according to research from IBIS World. In the five years through to 2014, revenue from the sector has increased at an average annual rate of 20 percent to $1.75 trillion. There are about 28,000 construction firms in this industry, up from 23,000 in 2009. © ninemsn 2015 Read more at http://www.9news.com.au/world/2015/03/11/14/54/chinese-skyscraper-built-in-just-19-days#6cQc5ggM7vthZ8OE.99
