Heavy smoke and activated safety flares are being reported at an Exxon Mobil plant in Beaumont, Texas, according to local media and journalists.
“The Exxon Mobil Beaumont Complex experienced a site-wide power outage," Lee Dula, public and government affairs manager for Exxon Mobil, told the Texas Examiner. "We are using our safety flares as a result of the outage."
“There is no cause for alarm, and we will provide updates as they are available,” Dula said.
Lamar University announced it would close for the day, the university's police department said on Facebook. The police instructed those in the Cardinal Village dorms to stay inside until further instruction.
"Once it has been deemed safe to return another notice will be provided," the statement said.

The first of many oil production disasters in the next few weeks I'm sure. Limit the supply by any means necessary to create consumer panic resulting in higher prices up at the pump.

They most likely lost the cooling water pumps due to the power outage and had to vent product to the flares. That's what they are there for.

Every damn time! Every time the oil prices go down, these oil crooks set fire to their supply, so that the media can justify the following gas price hike.

I'm watching the evening news right now here in the States and no mention of this story at all. Why is it that I can get more up to date news, with less bias from Russia than the U.S.? If you had told me 20 years ago that this would be true, I would have laughed in your face, but here we are.

There you go. Price was to low. Guess that "problem" just got a temporary "fix". Coincidence, I think not.
