Bara Imambada and Chota Imambada History and Pictures

Bara Imambada and Chota Imambada do have regular Ashrae Majalis.. but its basically small gathering.. Just like our normal Majlis... But Imambada GufraMa'ab, Imambada Aga Baqer, Shia College etc have big Majalis..

Imambada GufraMa'ab is actually one of the oldest centres of Aza now.. it is the main Azakhana of Khandaan e Ijtehaad.. and the Imam e Jumah has usually recited the Moharram Ashra there since decades now.. infact apart from Shrines of Masoomeen's and Aale Masoomeen's (a.s.) and a few famous Graveyards in Holy Cities.. Imambada Gufra Ma'ab is perhaps the only place which has many Maraje's and Mujtahids apart from great Zakirs resting in it.. And it is this very Imambada where the famous tradition of Majlis e Shaam e Gharibaan was started by Zakir e Sham e Ghareeban Ayatullah Syed Kalbe Hussain Naqvi (Kabban Sb Qibla).. in mid 1900's... It goes without saying that now you can't imagine an Ashrae Moharram without Sham e Ghareeban Majlis.. which ever part of the world you belong to

Actually Asafi Masjid is not the original Shia Jama Masjid of Lucknow.. Shia Jama Masjid is located near Chota Imambada and is itself a marvelous architecture.. Initially Jumah prayers were held there.. but during Independence struggle when British forces came to Lucknow.. they occupied the Bada Imambada compound.. and one fine day they converted the Asafi Masjd (which was used for regular prayers only) into a horse stable.. When the news reached Imam e Jumah (descendent of Ayatullah Gufra Ma'ab) he called on people to march to Asafi masjid next Friday.. with thousands of followers he marched to Asafi Masjid rather than regular Jama Masjid.. the stable was forcefully evicted and the Masjid released for prayer purpose.. It is since then that the Shia Jumah prayers have always been held there..


It is mainly used for Jumah namaz now.. Asafi Masjid in the Bara Imambada compound is the place where Jumah is held.. Jumah prayers are led by H I Syed Kalbe Jawwad Naqvi ibn H I Syed Kalbe Abid Naqvi

The main Imambada in Lucknow is Imambada Hazrat GufraMaa'b (ar).. which is located in Chowk.. The biggest Majlis of Lucknow is held here and addressed by H I Syed Kalbe Jawwad Naqvi..

Other main Majalis of Lucknow are held in Shia College (addressed by Aga Roohi sb) and by H I Hameedul Hasan Rizvi sb...
